Evidence Summary

For men with DIAGNOSED hypogonadism (clinically low testosterone), a large safety trial (TRAVERSE) found it does not raise major cardiac events, though it carries some real risks. There is NO evidence that testosterone extends healthspan or lifespan in healthy men — its widespread use for 'optimization' or anti-aging is off-label and unsupported.

Safety Considerations

Trial found more atrial fibrillation, other arrhythmias, and acute kidney injury in the testosterone group; caution advised with prior blood-clot events. Evidence applies to diagnosed hypogonadism only. Use in healthy men for 'optimization'/longevity is off-label and not supported by outcome evidence.
