Acarbose
Evidence Summary
A diabetes drug with a large, high-quality trial. It did NOT reduce heart attacks or deaths, but it did reduce progression to diabetes by about 18% in people with prediabetes. Its longevity reputation comes from mouse studies, not human data.
Safety Considerations
Prescription drug. GI effects (gas, bloating) are common due to its gut mechanism. Longevity claims rest on animal data, not human outcomes.
